Weekly Round-Up: #18 Birthday Edit 


This Weekly Round-Up is particularly special as it was my birthday on Tuesday so this post will have a definite celebratory twist. The main themes of this week have been birthday, food and friends.



So on Tuesday I celebrated my 32nd birthday. I had a lovely day and my boyfriend bought me this truly scrumptious cake topped with sweeties! I would usually bake a cake, however as we are in the process of moving house all of my baking utensils have been packed away in anticipation.

After my busy day at work we went out for dinner at one of my favourite Italian restaurants Carluccio’s. I was eager to try some of my new make up, especially the Charlotte Tilbury Eyes To Mesmerise in the shade Bette. Below is how it turned out. Beautiful eyes! The deep red lip is Grand Cru Rouge Velvet liquid lipstick by Bourjois. 


When we got to Carluccio’s I started the celebratory evening off with one of their Gin Giardino cocktails. A delicious and delicate blend of gin, elderflower, apple and prosecco – very refreshing and too good to just have one! 

 For starter I had the Prosciutto & Mozarella which is an unusual choice for me; I tend to gravitate towards the vegetarian options. This was however very tasty, the mozzarella especially light, creamy and delicious.   

For main, again another shift from my usual, I ordered the Lasagna which encompassed a combination of beef and lamb mince. We also shared sides of the mozzarella & tomato salad, green beans and pepper, aubergine and courgette fries. 

The lasagna was one of the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting, perfect combination of pasta, meat and sauce. The sides also complimented it perfectly. Yummy. 


After eating so much I was feeling pretty full but I just couldn’t resist a dessert having such a sweet tooth. I opted for the Caramel & Chocolate Sundae. Two generous scoops of Italian vanilla gelato covered in a caramel sauce, topped with crumbled biscotti and chocolate sauce. I loved most of this dessert apart from the chocolate sauce as it was very thick and very rich.



On Saturday we ended my birthday celebrations by visiting some great friends for lunch. They had prepared an impressive spread, complete with beautiful homemade bread and absolutely delicious homemade guacamole – my favourite! 

We had a lovely lunch and afternoon catching up and I was also blessed with another incredibly thoughtful present – some awesome Teapigs speciality tea to try, some beautiful note pads, cookie cutter in the shape of a sausage dog & a cute wooden heart decoration for our new home. So thankful for wonderful friends!
