It has been a while since I graced the aisles of Boots or Superdrug and indulged in some me beauty retail therapy, so on Sunday a shopping trip was in order.
I wanted to try a new foundation and Maybelline was on a buy-one-get-one-half-price offer which I just couldn’t resist.
I picked up the Maybelline Dream Velvet foundation in the shade 01 Natural Ivory.
I always struggle with picking a good colour match and this was the lightest offering which I hope will be a good match to my pale skin. It only set me back £7.99 so I thought it was worth the gamble.
I have never tried a Maybelline foundation instead tending to stick with Bourjois or L’Orèal. This Dream Velvet foundation promises to give a soft matte finish whilst remaining hydrating on the skin. I’m sure I’ll give this a full review once I’ve given this a good test on my dry skin!
Now we are well and truely into the winter months and my lips have been suffering in the wind and cold temperatures and are in need of some added moisture! I wanted a thick super hydrating lip balm which I can slather on at night time before bed and this one from Carmex looked promising.
The cherry flavour is a lovely extra too. Just what my lips needed and a welcome addition to my bed side table!
Of course I had to take full advantage of the Maybelline offer and I had been wanting to try one of their matte lipsticks; perfect timing. I opted for the shade 965 Siren in Scarlet which is a stunning bold blue-toned red – perfect for adding a punch of colour in the winter months.
This gives a flawless matte finish without being drying. This lipstick applies so smoothly – having the consistency of a really moisturising lip product. The staying power of the lipstick is great but not as good as my MAC matte lipsticks – however I find this formula much more forgiving on my dry lips and much more comfortable to wear. I will definitely be investing in some more of these little beauties.
Have you tried any of these? What were your thoughts? I love reading and replying to your comments.
