Weekly Round-Up: #42

It’s Weekly Round-Up time again and I can’t quite believe I have been writing these posts for 42 weeks! I have really enjoyed reflecting on my week and sharing my highlights and photographs with you all.

I am also nearing the 1st year anniversary of my blog in April and I made my first post on April the 11th. I am thinking about celebrating this blogging milestone in some way so any ideas welcome. I’m thinking about hosting another giveaway so let me know what you think. I cannot quite believe I am nearing 400 wonderful subscribers! I know it’s not all about the stats but I am so greatful that you enjoy reading my blog.

So let’s dive into my highlights of this week. My anxiety is still not good and one day when I am feeling stronger I will dedicate a post to my experiences but now is not the right time. The main themes of this week have been food (as always), beauty and creativity.

Food: The Cadogan Arms

On Saturday some great friends travelled down from Stamford for a catch up. This was the first time they had visited us at our new house so we found ourselves at a local pub.

The Cadogan Arms serves wonderful locally sourced good food. I, along with Cat & Alex ordered the Chicken & Ham Pie with Leek Mash & Rainbow Carrots and we were not disappointed.

The pie was beautifully baked – no soggy bottoms here and the filling of generous chunks of chicken and ham were moist and perfectly cooked. The leek mash was creamy and complimented the pie and the roasted rainbow carrots were wonderfully seasoned, tasted delicious and gave the plate of food a boost of colour. Absolutely delicious. If you are ever in Suffolk and find yourself in the Bury St. Edmunds area I would definitely recommend seeking out The Cadogan, or their sister pubs, The Beerhouse, The One Bull or The Crown in Hartest.

Beauty: Lipstick Loves & Mini Haul

This week has been very up and down health wise but I have found myself with the energy for make-up on a couple of occasions.

The photo above was taken last Sunday when we ventured out to get some home bits & pieces. I still absolutely adore the stunning pink lipstick from the Gwen Stefani & Urban Decay collaboration called Firebird. If you missed my full review of the lipstick then check it out here

On Friday we made an impromptu visit into town as I wanted to buy some more canvases to paint and Boots just so happens to be next door to the art supply shop so it would have been rude to just walk on by!

I was rather restrained and only picked up the above three products from Bourjois which were on a 3for2 offer which I couldn’t resist. I will be posting a mini haul & first impressions post this week so remember to keep checking back for that.

The above photo was taken on Saturday as I wanted to experiment with my new purchases. I am wearing all three of the Bourjois products and the blush and lip colour are both very soft and understated.

Creativity: Photography & Abstract Art

This week my creative juices have been flowing and even rubbed off on Dave. Dave came home on Thursday with this rather fetching (& heavy) concrete sun which will look perfect in our back garden.

I was inspired to pick up the camera again and enjoyed taking photos of the beautiful bunches of tulips we have in the kitchen & became snap happy in the garden.

I love these crisp white tulips with the streak of vibrant purple running through each petal. However the breath taking orange & yellow tulips below are my favourites; absolutely love the striking bold colours which the camera captures perfectly.

I discovered these delicate dainty lilac flowers and the tiny purple flowers in our front garden, along with the minature red tulip. We only moved into our house in November so we have no idea what has been planted in the garden. It is such a heart warming surprise to see these delicate flowers blooming now we are in Spring as I’m sure they were planted with great care by the previous owners who have both now sadly passed away.

I finally managed to take a stealthy shot of the two rather portly pigeons who frequent our back garden on a daily basis. They always bring a smile to my face when I fling open the bedroom curtains to find them perching as always – can you spot them?

And finally I also managed to create this abstract canvas. I wanted to experiment with layering the acrylic paints and adding texture. I really enjoyed the process of creating this piece of art work and felt a real sense of pride and accomplishment when it was completed. I have recently purchased a very very large canvas which I am hoping to tackle soon.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have enjoyed my weekly round-up. Let me know if you have tried any of the products mentioned and what you’ve been up to this week. I love reading and replying to your comments.

  1. You always have such lovely pics Em!!! Those flowers are stunning ❤ Really tempted to invest in that Bourjois trio you have, the finished results look beautiful, very soft and natural 🙂 I'm going through a phase of adoring cream stick blushes so that looks perfect for me 🙂 Great round up as always huni! Wishing you a fab week ahead XXX
