Review: Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydrating Foundation

I have bought several new foundations over the past few months so these reviews have become somewhat of an unintentioned series.

Initial Impressions

On first impressions I thought this foundation wasn’t going to be a good colour match because despite choosing the lightest shade the colour in the tube looked slightly orange.

However this orange tone disappears on the skin.

The consistency of this foundation is almost whipped and mousse like. I have tried to apply the foundation with my usual brush technique but after much experimenting I achieve the best finish by using my fingers.

The heat of my fingers seems to melt the foundation to achieve a much more even and flawless look.

This foundation is a soft matte foundation and I would say the coverage is medium to high and is very buildable. The foundation does dry down to a semi-matte almost velvet finish. However throughout the does it does cling to dry patches on my skin. Therefore this foundation is more suited to a more combination oily skin rather than a dry skin in my opinion.

This is a full face of make up using the Dream Velvet Foundation as the base. For my full make up of the day check out the link – MUOTD: Urban Decay Gwen Stefani.

Thanks for reading. Have you tried this foundation? Let me know what you think – I love reading and replying to your comments.
