You may or may not have noticed that I have been somewhat M.I.A this week and did not post on Tuesday & Thursday. I felt like I needed a bit of a break as I have had a very difficult up and down week; both physically & emotionally.
On Monday I had a hospital appointment to see a Rheumatology Specialist. I had been waiting months for this appointment to finally get some answers as to why I have been feeling so much pain & having so many physical issues.
The appointment was nothing what I had hoped for. I was in floods of tears for the majority of my time with the Dr. as he proceeded to tell me that I was morbidly obese & I have fibromyalgia as a direct result of being overweight. He was unwilling to listen to my history and lacked any shred of empathy. It was an awful experience. I do however, finally have a diagnosis of fibromyalgia which is a relief – however there is no cure & it’s going to be a long journey in managing the often debilitating symptoms.
Beauty: BECCA Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop
Now I have that off my chest lets lighten the mood with a selfie of me during a much happier time this week! This was actually taken last night on our way out to Daves cousins wedding reception. I decided that a popping highlight was needed and Jaclyn Hill’s Champagne Pop by BECCA did not disappoint. Just look at that beautiful golden glow. I did get lots of compliments on how well I looked! Great stuff!
Day Out: Suffolk Food Hall
On Tuesday I went out for the day with Daves mum and his brothers girlfriend. We found ourselves at Suffolk Food Hall which is just outside of Ipswich, overlooking the Orwell Bridge.
I took my camera with me and managed to capture lots of interesting shots. When we stopped for lunch we sat upstairs in The Cookhouse restaurant at the food hall. The restaurant had stunning panoramic views of the river Orwell, the Orwell Bridge & the Suffolk countryside.
The menu looked so mouthwatering that I really struggled to make a choice.
In the end I decided on the Asparagus & Crab Butter with capers & lemon sauce to start. Asparagus is definitely one of my favourite vegetables and this dish was the absolute perfect combination. The crab butter was so sweet and indulgent, the crispy capers had a lovely saltiness and the lemon sauce was able to cut through and balance all of these flavours so that the asparagus ready shone through. Perfect.
For main I ordered the halluomi & mushroom burger with crispy onions & sweet potato fries. I absolutely love the saltiness of halluomi cheese and it seems that cheese in small amounts my digestive system can just about manage. I did not eat the burger bun as the gluten & dairy mix is not a good combination for me! The sweet potato fries and the salad were delicious too. A great meal.
After lunch we decided to head further down the road and into Shotley. Shotley is the other side of the river to Felixstowe and you can see the port! It was interesting to watch these ginormous ships docked up and ready to unload.
Garden: Flower or Pesky Weed?
I was really excited when I saw this flower in all corners of our garden. However I was not impressed to discover that this is in fact a very evasive weed called bindweed!
It has entwined itself in the back and side hedge and all along the trellis trying to choke the clematis! Luckily my parents are visiting on Tuesday to help tame this weed!
Creativity: Website for my Art!
Despite my rubbish start to the week I decided to take the plunge and set up a website to showcase & sell my art.
Let me introduce to you…..
I have managed to sell two pieces privately – one being a request for a bespoke piece. It was really difficult trying to work out a price for my art. I decided to charge a reasonable amount which covers the cost of materials and gives a small profit.
This is the latest piece I created this week called Unicorn Dreams. I have used string gel medium to create an interesting relief and texture to this piece. Love it.
Thanks for reading and I hope you have enjoyed my weekly round-up. Do leave a comment as I love reading and replying to you! Thankyou.
