Rather than a monthly favourites I decided to write about the products I have been loving over the summer months. This will be in two parts: skincare & make up. So do check back next week for the next installment!
I have been loving skincare this month and have rekindled and discovered some new beauty bargains.
As you may or may not know I will be returning to university in September to persue my MRes (Masters in Social Science Research). I have worked as a social worker for 5 years now and feel I need a break from front line practice and need to return to my love of academia. This degree will be a great platform to get into research and teaching at university level by using my practice experience in a different way. I can’t wait. I have been awarded a scholarship to study which covers the hefty tuition fees and a small maintenance grant. However this does mean a substantial drop in income…. I will be earning a 6th of what I was so I will have to cut back on my spending, especially when it comes to beauty.
Let me introduce to you this wonderful beauty bargain from Superdrug:
Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser
I used to love this during my student days when I was qualifying as a social worker. I am so pleased I have rekindled my love for this as it is a fraction of the cost of Liz Earle (which coincidently has recently been breaking my skin out!). I managed to pick up two of these on a buy one get one half price offer a couple of weeks ago at Superdrug.
For £4.99 you get 200ml of product which is a thick creamy cleanser and a muslin cloth. So on the offer I paid a measly £7.48 for 400ml of product and two muslin cloths bargain!
This cleanser is gentle on my sensitive skin but packs a punch at removing make up – even stubborn waterproof mascara. I absolutely love it and this will become my daily cleanser from now on. Love it.
Caudalie: Polyphenol Anti-Wrinkle Protect Fluid Broad Spectrum SPF20
I received this generous sample in a recent Birchbox and absolutely love it. This is the first moisturiser with an SPF which I have found which doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin and eyes and sinks in beautifully. I have managed to accrue £10 worth of Birchbox points so I can put that towards the not-so-budget-friendly £29 price tag for the full 40ml size. I do think that this will be a worthwhile investment.
Nip + Fab: Glycolic Fix Night Pads
I have only recently discovered acid toners/exfolitators and that is thanks to this reasonably priced brand. I managed to pick these up on a half price offer so paid around £8. If you missed my full review then check it out here: Acid Exfoliators.
Thank you for reading. I hope you have enjoyed my summer skincare faves – however these will take me through to Autumn too!
