Welcome to the second and final installment of my summer beauty favourites. If you missed the skincare edition then check it out here: Summer Favourites: Make-Up Edition.
These trusty make-up items have seen me through the summer months and no doubt some will continue to be staples as we head towards autumn. My favourite time of year. Who doesn’t love autumn?!
L’Oréal: Glam Bronze Cushion de Soleil
I have never been one for bronzer… Or contouring… Or even blush for that matter! But this year has been all about the healthy glow – it’s just taken me 32 years to find it!
I absolutely love the packaging, consistency and the colour of this beautiful liquid bronzer. The bronzer is dispensed through the cushion pad onto your brush, or beauty sponge and you can work it into your skin.
It blends beautifully to create a subtle glow or you can build it up if you are looking for a heavier bronze. I have used this none stop this summer, it’s a great matte bronzer and the liquid to powder finish has great longetivity in the summer weather. Love it.
Bourjois: Contouring Illusion Bronzer & Highlighter
This has been a fairly recent edition to my make-up collection and I actually got it as a free gift when I bought other Bourjois products. At first I wasn’t sure whether I would get on with a contouring product as I had never contoured. Oh how wrong I was. This has been great to give a subtle shimmer to my bronzer glow! This contouring product has two powders: a matte bronzer & a shimmering highlighter. I tend to swirl them together to add a beautiful glow to my complexion.
Bourjois: CC Cream
To be honest I should purchase a new tube as I used this last summer too…. But it is still holding strong. The has a buildable light-medium coverage and feels so lightweight and hydrating on the skin. This also contains SPF 15 which has been perfect for the summer months. This continues to be a firm favourite and long standing staple in my make-up bag.
LOC by Birchbox: Millie Bohemian Rose
I received this lipgloss crayon in a recent Birchbox and I fell in love. At first I wasn’t sure about the baby pinky rose colour but wow, once it was on my lips I loved it! This is such a perfect colour for summer and the lipgloss has a beautiful non-sticky formula which glides on the lips keeping them hydrated with a lovely pop of colour. It’s not super long lasting – but what do you expect with a lipgloss?! But it fades gradually without being patchy and can be easily reapplied without any issues. I have loved wearing this.
Maybelline: The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette
This lovely eyeshadow palette had been nestling in the bottom of my make-up drawers, under used and under loved.
However, over the summer months I have been reaching for this time and time again.
I have been loving all the matte shades in particular in this palette. They have been great as a neutralising eyeshadow base when sweeped all over the lid. I also have loved using the deeper matte shades as either transition shadows or to deepen the outer edge and the crease. Such a great consistency and super blendable. A great versatile palette.
Urban Decay: Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette
I bought the Naked 2 palette over a year ago but it has been under used. However this summer I have been reaching for this time and time again.
I have been particularly loving half baked – a beautiful shimmering gold shade. This colour really compliments and brings out the gold tones in my hazel eyes. Stunning.
I have also been loving chopper – a lovely rose gold shade with larger particles of glitter.
Another firm favourite has been suspect – in the pan this looks rather dark but on the lid it is a beautiful shimmering taupe shade which is perfect to achieve a quick polished look.
As always the quality of these eyeshadows are second to none. They blend beautifully and last really well. I absolutely love this palette.
